8 years earlier “Lucy ohhhh I have missed you sooo much.” I exclaimed as I ran up to my bestfriend in the whole wide world.  I haven’t seen Lucy for 2-weeks because she was visiting family and she is finally back. I hugged her for a second but my face immediately turned into a frown when she wasn’t hugging me back.  “What’s wrong?!” I asked letting go of her a frown evident on my face.  “I don’t wanna be friends with you anymore.” She responded looking at me in disgust. I felt my heart drop to my stomach my only friend no longer wanted to be my friend.  “W-Why?! W-What did I d-do?” I asked choking back my tears.  One fact about me: MAJOR crybaby.  Maybe that is why....  “You’re lame. I am your only friend and you always cry. I want better friends who are tough and cool like me.” She shrugged before walking off.  I just looked as she walked in the direction of her house, tears streaming down my face. I quickly turned around and ran into my house seeing my mom and step-dad watching TV on the couch.  “What’s wrong hunny?” My mom frowned sitting up when she seen my face.  “L-Lucy stopped being my friend.” I bust into tears again.  “I wonder why.” My step-dad Louis scoffed under his breath causing my mom to shoot him a glare.  Sadly he never liked me.  “Louis! That is no way to speak to my daughter! She just lost her best-friend and the least you could do is have some sympathy!” My mom snapped. I had never seen her snap on someone before.  “Well she needs to stop being a crybaby and maybe people would start liking her bratty ass.” He snapped back. “DONT talk about my daughter like that!” My mom yelled back.  In the blink of an eye Louis slapped my mom across the face causing her to fall on the ground. I wanted to stay and help her but she shouted at me to go to my room and lock the door. I did as told barely being able to comprehend why my life turned upside down so fast.  Sitting in my room I was hoping my mom would come check on me so we could leave Louis and run away. I was very smart for my age so I knew what was happening.  What 9-year old Sierra didn’t know was that Louis had manipulated her mother into despising Sierra so nothing would ever be the same.   I sat on my bed that night bawling my eyes out until I eventually went to sleep. Before drifting off, I thought about something. If I never cried then my mom wouldn’t be hurt...so from that day forward I promised myself to NEVER show my emotions again.
